    POSITION TITLE: Watershed Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator  


    REPORTS TO: Partners of Scott County Watersheds Board; Director of Operations 


    SUPERVISES: Interns, contractors, and related volunteers


    HOURS OF POSITION: Generally weekdays with some evenings and weekends, as needed 


    STATUS: Full Time, Salaried 


    COMPENSATION: $40,000 – $46,000 and $2,500 annual stipend for health care

    GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: This position will serve a portion of their time as coordinator for Partners of Scott County Watersheds and a portion of their time as the volunteer coordinator and administrative assistant for Nahant Marsh. 


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Supports the mission, vision, and core values of Nahant Marsh and Partners of Scott County Watersheds (PSCW).

    As PSCW Coordinator:

    • Coordinate Snapshot Water Quality Sampling Events- Secure venue, organize sampling supplies (sample kits, coolers, etc), advertise event, recruit volunteers, stake site locations, procure refreshments, create maps and datasheets, process samples and data. Work with Vice-Chair to interpret and share results.
    • Coordinate Events - Find and coordinate speakers, locations, and logistics. Event marketing and social media, manage event registration, prepare and disseminate event materials.
    • Market Services - Create Facebook content, website posts, and listserv emails; manage PSCW website; write press releases and media advisories; create annual publications; create flyers and brochures.
    • Secure Funding - Research grant opportunities, write grant applications, manage annual partner funding, develop donor donations, and track membership and donor programs.
    • Other Duties -
    1. Interacting with landowners to discuss conservation practices
    2. Coordinate outreach programs
    3. Conduct water quality testing
    4. Oversee special projects
    5. Provide technical assistance

    As Nahant Marsh Volunteer Coordinator and Administrative Assistant:

    • Coordinate Volunteer Program- Recruit new volunteers, review volunteer applications, conduct training, schedule volunteer opportunities, promote volunteer opportunities, record volunteer data, and coordinate Friends of Nahant Marsh meetings and activities.
    • Administer XStream Cleanup Program- Work with the Waste Commission of Scott County to process cleanup event/supply requests, create cleanup registration pages and social media marketing, coordinate cleanup supply distribution, and participate in XStream Cleanup meetings.
    • Perform Administrative Duties- Assist with special events and programs and create quarterly newsletters and annual report.

    GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: 

    Sedentary to moderate work, approximately 70% time indoors. Position involves sitting in an office setting, frequent off-site travel, and sitting in meetings (67-100%). Frequent (34-66%) walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, grasping, finger dexterity. Constant (67-100%) talking and listening to people in person or over the telephone. Viewing computer screen and other types of close visual work frequently (34-66%). Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds occasionally (10-33%). Frequent (34-66%) travel off-site required to complete duties. Occasional (10-33%) physical labor includes sampling streams, using lopping shears, leading clean-ups, setting up and tearing down tables, chairs etc. for events.  


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or in natural sciences or related field. Minimum of two years’ experience in environmental field, education, or related position. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint; Canva or Adobe Illustrator/InDesign; and WordPress.
